I specialize in working with children, teens, young adults, and families who may be struggling with various types of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, parental separation, grief and loss, peer conflict, and many more. When experiencing change, it can be difficult for young people to share their feelings in ways adults can understand. I provide a warm and friendly environment where they feel comfortable and secure so they are able to express themselves not only through words, but through art and play therapy as well.
I have been trained in a strengths-based psychotherapeutic approach which is necessary in helping children and adolescents to increase self-esteem and build effective coping skills throughout life situations that may be confusing or troubling to them. I believe this approach is essential in guiding young people to process any emotional or behavioral difficulties that may be hindering their overall daily functioning.
Educating parents on behavioral modification techniques and effective communication skills as well as providing support on how to improve interactions with children at home is an important part of my therapeutic style. I believe that working with parents and the family as a unit is essential in treating the child. We can work together as a team to help make life’s challenges easier for your child or teen by encouraging them to think differently about the way they see themselves and the world around them.
